Coalition of Civil Societies says Ethiopia’s elections fair, democratic

The Coalition told journalists in Addis Ababa that it has monitored the democratic process with its 40,000 observers deployed in all over the country.
In his preliminary statement of the election process, Tadele Yimer, Chairperson of the Coalition, said the observers have carried out their responsibilities focusing on the activities in three stages guided by principles of international standards.
According to the Chairperson, the observers were drawn from 12 different civil societies in the country.
“We have observed that the 4th Ethiopia’s election was up to standard and fair, participatory, democratic, free and peaceful,” said the Chairperson.
According to the Chairperson, the Coalition would announce detail reports on the election soon after the announcement of the elections results and process by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).
The coalition has provided details in the three stages of the election process.
