Nigeria to swear in new vice president Wednesday

Nigerian Vice President-designate Namadi Sambo is expected to be sworn in on Wednesday before the weekly Executive Council of the Federation (EXCOF) meeting, a reliable source in Abuja told Xinhua late on Tuesday.

The Nigerian National Assembly had approved Sambo as new vice president of the country after voting.

Both the Nigerian Senate and the House of Representatives approved the nomination.

He was at the Presidential Villa after been confirmed by the National Assembly, the source said.

According to the source, Sambo was also part of President Goodluck Jonathan delegation that welcomed visiting President of Sierra Leone, Bai Koroma, who was on a condolence visit.
