A Nigerian armed rebel group said on Friday it had blown up an oil facility in the country's Niger Delta region, according to a statement released by the group.

The group Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC) of Niger Delta threatened further attacks in the statement.

The Nigerian militant operating in the oil-rich region said it had attacked and exploded the Abbiama Manifold in Buguma at about 12:08 a.m. (2308 GMT).

A spokesman with Royal Dutch Shell Nigeria said they had not received any report on their oil facilities so far.

"There was nothing like that at the moment," the spokesman told Xinhua via phone.

JRC also claimed this month that it had destroyed a heavily guarded Agip pipelines in southeast Delta state. But no official statement was made in confirmation of the attack after that claim.
