Somali parliamentarians have tabled a motion to oust Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein and his government for incompetence and embezzlement, the deputy parliament speaker said Monday.
"Initially 90 parliamentarians have submitted the draft motion and the deputies have 48 hours to study the motion," Deputy Speaker Mohamed Omar Dalha told Xinhua by phone from Baidoa, the seat of the Somali transitional parliament.
"But there are about 10 members of parliament who said that they are not signatories to the motion although that does not nullify the motion, which will be debated and voted on," said Dalha.
The other key points in the motion is that the government of Hussein, who was appointed in November last year, have failed to set a budget for the government since it was formed seven months ago, and it also failed to pacify the country.
This comes as Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf and the prime minister are in the Ethiopian capital for talks to resolve their differences.
The dispute between the two leaders escalated after Hussein sacked the mayor of Mogadishu Mohamed Omar Habeeb, a close ally of the president, who reinstated him in a decree.
Pro-president ministers in Hussein's government resigned, accusing him of mismanagement and emblazing state funds.
The Horn of Africa nation has been in chaos since the overthrow of the late Somali ruler Mohamed Siyad Barre in 1991.
