Mauritanian ousted Prime Minister Yahya Ould Ahmed El Waghef was re-arrested Thursday in the northern port city of Nouadhibou, according to news reaching here from Noukchott, the capital of Mauritania.

Mauritania's official newspaper Horizons told Xinhua that Waghef was re-detained for defying the State Council's regulations to leave Noukchott without permission.

Waghef planned to attend a demonstration in Nouadhibou against leaders of the Aug. 6 coup that ousted and arrested President SidiMohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi and Waghef.

Mauritanian ousted Prime Minister Yahya Ould Ahmed El Waghef, seen here during an interview on June 3, 2008, was re-arrested Thursday in the northern port city of Nouadhibou, according to news reaching here from Noukchott, the capital of Mauritania.

Waghef was freed five days later and Abdallahi was still in detention.
