Iran exports 2 bln USD worth of petrochemicals in two months

The Director of National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NIPC) Abdolhossein Bayat said that Iran exported 2 billion U.S. dollars worth of petrochemical products in two-month period from March 21 to May 20, the local Press TV reported Sunday.

Bayat said 2.8 million tons of petrochemical products were exported in that period, said the report.

The value of Iran's petrochemical exports is expected to reach 14 billion U.S. dollars in the current Iranian calendar year that ends on March 20, 2012, he was quoted as saying.

Bayat noted that Iran produced more than 40 million tons of petrochemical products in the last Iranian calendar year that ended on March 20, 2011.

The country also exported 18 million tons of petrochemical products worth up to 11.6 billion U.S. dollars in the last Iranian calendar year, showing a 26-percent increase compared with two years ago, he added.
