Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that the U.S. new move to impose sanctions against Venezuela is another failed experience, the official IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.

Last week, the U.S. government imposed sanctions on seven foreign companies, including Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA and Israeli Ofer Brothers Group, which it said are involved in providing Iran with gasoline and other refined petroleum products.

The U.S. State Department said that the new penalties are part of an ongoing effort to force Iran to give up its nuclear ambitions.

Mehmanparast said Saturday that the U.S. unilateral sanctions indicated isolation of the country in the world and insulted other nations' intention to choose their trade and political partners, said the report.

Iran is under sanction pressures by the United States, European Union and other Western countries over its controversial nuclear program, which the West believes is moving to the atomic weaponry developments.

However, Tehran denied the allegations, claiming that its nuclear program is for civilian and peaceful purpose.
