Jordan on Tuesday said it considers the Libyan opposition's interim National Transitional Council (NTC) a legitimate representative for the Libyan people, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

In a telephone call with head of the executive committee of the NTC Mahmoud Jebreel, Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh commended the role of the council and its positions in attempting to realize the aspirations of the Libyan people.

Stressing that coordination with the council is necessary to ensure the smooth flow of Jordanian humanitarian assistance to Libya, the minister said Jordan is planning to dispatch a permanent envoy to Libya's eastern city of Benghazi to enhance coordination.
