Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday that Iran has announced its readiness to talk with the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany (G5+1).

It now depends on the West to announce its readiness to resume the talks, Mehmanparast said at a press briefing.

The spokesman reiterated that his country is ready for the talks and cooperation with the West based on common grounds so that the outcome of the talks could be "fruitful."

Last Tuesday, Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili welcomed talks with G5+1 based on common grounds and in a pressure- free atmosphere.

Maja Kocijancic, spokeswoman for the EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, said last Wednesday that Iran's response to an EU letter about talks on Tehran's nuclear program "does not contain something new and does not justify another round of talks. "
