Local media reports said that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers opened fire on Sunday as hundreds of people managed to cross the security fence between Israel and Syria for demonstrations marking Nakba Day.

An army spokesperson confirmed that the soldiers fired into the air to detain the demonstrators from approaching the security area in the northern Golan heights.
