The Jewish settlement activities in the West Bank increased rapidly in 2010, growing by four times than in 2009, a Palestinian report said Tuesday.

In 2010, Israel built 6,674 homes in settlements in the West Bank, said the report by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics. In 2009, Israel built only 1,703 homes.

In September 2010, a 10 month-moratorium on settlement construction in the West Bank expired and settlers resumed the building in the last three months of that year.

The resumption of construction stopped Israeli-Palestinian peace process after the Palestinians walked out in protest.

The report says that the percentage of settlers to the Palestinian population in the West Bank is about 21 settlers for each 100 Palestinians.

Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967 and annexed east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians seek as a future capital.
