Hundreds of Syrians marched in the streets of Damascus on Friday, supporting the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Protestors taking motorcades waved Syrian flags and chanted slogans in favor of Assad one day after the government announced reforms including discussing lifting 48-year emergency law, increasing incomes and punishing corrupt officials.

Earlier this morning, hundreds of Syrians demonstrated in some cities in solidarity with protests in the southern town of Daraa, 100 km south to Damascus, which have continued for the eighth day, eyewitnesses told Xinhua.

Meanwhile, pan-Arab Al-Jazeera TV reported that Syrian security forces dispersed the protesters in Damascus and prevented news agencies to access Daraa. Thousands in Daraa participated on Friday in the funeral of scores killed in clashes with the security forces.

Buthaina Shaaban, the presidential advisor said on Thursday that 34 Syrians were killed in the recent events in Daraa accusing "foreign powers" of standing behind the turmoil.
