Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said on Monday he will stay in the power and that the majority of the people are behind him, a government official told Xinhua.

The government official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that President Saleh will stay in power until a peaceful plan for transferring the power is completed.

He quoted Saleh as saying that all the Yemenis respect stability, security and constitutional legitimacy.
