A civilian was killed and six were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in southern Baghdad on Saturday, an Interior Ministry source said.

The attack occurred in the morning when a roadside bomb struck a police patrol in Baghdad southern district of Doura, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Two policemen were among the wounded by the blast which damaged a police vehicle and several nearby civilian cars, the source said.

Violence and sporadic high-profile bomb attacks continue in the Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease of violence over the past few years.
