Iran supports "legitimate demands" of Egyptian people

Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the Islamic Republic fully supports the legitimate demands of the Egyptian people, the official IRNA news agency reported.

The Islamic Republic of Iran expects all freedom-loving people and governments across the globe to respect the legitimate demands of the Egyptian people, said the statement.

Iran is closely monitoring the regional developments, said the statement, adding that the current important and constructive developments in the Middle East and north Africa have roots in the "Islamic awakening."

Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq said on Thursday he was ready to talk with protestors face to face in central Cairo's Tahrir Square in a televised press conference.

According to Egyptian Health Ministry, five people were killed and 836 others injured in Tahrir Square clashes till Thursday.
