The Israeli army Wednesday killed a Palestinian and wounded another near the borders between the northern Gaza Strip and Israel, sources in the deposed Hamas government said.

An Israeli army tank fired a shell at two Palestinians approaching the borders area, the sources said, adding that one was killed and the other was wounded.

According to the sources, ambulances and rescue teams were not able to reach the area as it needs coordination in advance with the Israeli army.

Meanwhile, the Israeli media quoted Israeli army sources as saying that an Israeli army force targeted two Palestinians trying to plant a roadside bomb near the fence of the borders between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army had established a 300-meter-wide buffer zone on its borders with the Gaza Strip. Israeli soldiers at the borders open fire at any Palestinian trying to approach the area.
