Jordan's Prime Minister Samir Rifai arrived in Baghdad on Monday in an official visit after the country formed its new cabinet late in December last year, an official Iraqi television reported.

"Jordan's Prime Minister Samir Rifai arrived in Baghdad presiding a high-ranking delegation," the state-run television of Iraqia said.

Rifai and his delegation are expected to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and other top Iraqi leaders, with the aim of showing Jordan's support and cooperation for the Iraqi government and discussing bilateral relations.

Rifai's visit is the second for high-level Arab leaders following the visit of Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit after the vote of confidence on Maliki's cabinet on Dec. 21.
