Iran hangs seven drug traffickers, one "villain": report

Iran hanged on Monday seven drug traffickers in the central prison of western city of Kermanshah and one "villain" in the southeastern city of Zahedan.
The seven unidentified men were convicted of producing and distributing heroin and crack, Kermanshah prosecutor Mojtaba Maleki was quoted as saying by the semi-official Fars news agency.
Another man, Bahman Rigi, who was executed in the central prison of Zahedan on Monday was convicted of killing four people and buying and keeping drugs, said the state IRIB TV website.
On Saturday, Iran also reported the execution of eight drug smugglers in the central city of Qom.
Drug trafficking is among some other crimes, including murder, adultery, rape and armed robbery, which could be punished by death in Iran.
