Six Palestinian demonstrators were injured Monday evening during clashes with Israeli soldiers near the West Bank city of Ramallah, medics and witnesses said.

The witnesses said that the clashes erupted in the area when around 700 Palestinians and 200 foreign activists arranged a peaceful demonstration to protest against the Israeli settlement and the construction of the separation wall.

They added that the demonstrators kept marching until they reached the Israeli army checkpoint of Beit Eill, where the Israeli soldiers dispersed them with tear gas canisters and rubber gunshots.

Medical sources said that six demonstrators were injured during the clashes, one of which was in serious condition, adding the wounded were hurt by tear gas and rubber gunshots when they threw stones at Israeli soldiers.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army declared the area a closed military zone following the clashes.
