Syrian President congratulates Christian community on Christmas

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad congratulated on Saturday the Syrian Christian denominations heads on Christmas, local Damascus Press news website reported.

Assad hailed the deep meanings of this great occasion and affirming that Christmas is a message of amity, peace, security and equality among humans.

Christian denominations in Syria on Saturday celebrated Christmas. Masses and prayers were held on glorious occasion in churches across Syria, said the report.

Syria' s Christians consist 7 percent of overall population of the country.
