Two people were killed and three others wounded Saturday in bomb and gunfire attacks in Baghdad and Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk, police said.
A sticky bomb attached to a civilian car detonated near an intersection in Doura district in southern Baghdad, killing the driver, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
In Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk, a child was killed and two people wounded in a bomb explosion in al-Rashad area south of the capital city of Kirkuk, a local police source said.
Also in Kirkuk city, a policeman was wounded when gunmen opened fire on him in the al-Qadsiyah neighborhood, some 250 km north of Baghdad, the source said.
Violence and sporadic high-profile attacks are still common in Iraqi cities, shaping a setback to the efforts of the Iraqi government to restore normalcy in the country after violence-torn Iraq held parliamentary elections more than seven months ago.
