Ibrahim Salem Hamdan, 21, was arrested in the city of Rafah near the borders with Gaza while attempting to sneak back into the besieged enclave from Egypt, a security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The young man was interrogated on how he had entered the Egyptian territories and the motive behind his attempt to illegally cross the borders to the enclave, the source added.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ordered the opening of the Rafah crossing for humanitarian cases on June 1 after Israel's raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla on May 31.
