The Brigades of Abdullah Azzam said one of its members carried out a suicide bomb attack on the oil tanker, the U.S. media quoted American monitoring group SITE as saying.
The tanker, owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd., Japan, was travelling to Japan in the Strait of Hormuz when an incident occurred, leaving the ship with a large dent in its side and blown out windows and buckled doors at deck level.
