Egypt called upon all parties concerned to step in to pressurize Israel into self-restraint and abstain from escalating the military situation in south Lebanon, said the report.
Egypt is also urging respect for UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and stopping violations on this score.
Earlier in the day, Israeli forces and Lebanese army exchanged fire in the area of Adisah in south Lebanon, killing three Lebanese soldiers and a Lebanese journalist.
Four other soldiers and a correspondent of the Al-Manar channel were wounded in the clashes, according to pan-Arab al-Jazeera TV.
Al-Jazeera's earlier report said an Israeli officer and two Lebanese soldiers were killed in the clashes.
The clashes are the first of its kind since the 2006 war between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah, which lasted for 34 days and was ended by UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
