The Arab League (AL) called for boosting Arab voluntary work, which reflects solidarity among Arab societies, Egypt's MENA news agency reported.

Hesham Youssef, chief of the office of AL secretary general, urged participants in the sixth conference of the Arab union for voluntary work on Saturday to come up with a set of recommendations that would enrich Arab voluntary work.

The six-day conference, which kicked off on Saturday morning at Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, is held under the slogan "Let's protect our heritage and culture."

Representatives of civil society and voluntary work organizations in 16 Arab nations attend the AL-sponsored conference whose main activities include an exhibition and several workshops.
