Lebanese Defense Minister Elias Murr denied Wednesday that United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon ( UNIFIL), Lebanese army and Hezbollah had held a three-way meeting to ease tensions between the peacekeepers and southern residents.
Murr said after a meeting with the Personal Representative of UN General Secretary Michael Williams that reports regarding a three-way meeting of UNIFIL, Hezbollah and Lebanese army "are not true."
"Meetings taking place between UNIFIL and the army are just to coordinate operations on the ground," he added.
"Lebanese army will accompany UNIFIL in all their missions and if they need additional forces, we will send enough to fulfill their need," he stressed, hoping the incidents happened last week "will not happen again."
Meanwhile, Hezbollah MPs said in a statement that they support relations with UNIFIL.
