Turkish police confiscated 171.1 kg of heroin in the eastern province of Bitlis on Friday, Bitlis governor's office said in a statement.

Acting on a tip-off, the police staged an operation and stopped a truck on Bitlis-Diyarbakir highway, said the statement.

It added that the police impounded 171.1 kg of heroin stashed in the truck, and detained 11 suspected people in connection with the haul.
