Spate of bombings in Baghdad kill 5, wound 30

A series of bombings in and around Baghdad on Sunday morning killed a total of five policemen and wounded 30 people, an Interior Ministry source said.
A policeman was killed and six others were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion near their patrol in a village in Abu Ghraib rural area, just west of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
In separate incident, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated at the city-hall of Mahmoudiyah City, some 30 km south of Baghdad, wounding eight of the local government employees, including the head of the city council, the source said.
The blast hit a crowd of the city hall employees as they were heading to work in front of the building which was also damaged by the blast.
