Dozens of people crossed Egypt 's Rafah border with the Gaza Strip after Egypt opened the land crossing to allow aid into the besieged area.

A total of 82 people, including students and patients, had entered Egypt from the enclave as of Tuesday night, an Egyptian security source told Xinhua on Wednesday.

Moreover, about 80 people crossed the border into Gaza with four trucks carrying 107 tents, 2,300 blankets and 13 power generators, the source added.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday ordered the opening of the crossing without a specified closure time after Israeli forces attacked an international convoy of aid ships heading for Gaza on Monday.
