Israel implemented a three-day closure in the West Bank during the country's independence day, Israeli army said Sunday in a statement.

Starting from Saturday midnight, the lockdown is scheduled to be lifted on Tuesday after the military assessed the security situation, according to the Israel Defense Forces(IDF).

For the duration of the closure, persons in need of medical attention will be permitted to pass for care.

The passage of humanitarian aid as well as doctors, medical personnel, lawyers, religious workers and other professional groups need to be authorized by Israeli civil authorities.

Israel's Independence Day will fall on Tuesday this year according to Jewish calendar.

Israel routinely imposes a general closure upon the Palestinian territory during holidays. Last month, the Jewish state sealed off the West Bank for five days in the wake of tensions between the Palestinians and Israelis following the approval of a housing program in East Jerusalem.
