The Israeli cabinet gave greenlight on Sunday to a construction plan of a barrier along its border with Egypt, so as to stop illegal entry across the loosely guarded frontier.

The approved construction is "a ground barrier along 240 km of the Israeli-Egyptian border, part of which will be in the form of a fence and part in the form of other technological means," Israeli prime minister's office said in a statement.
