Egyptian security forces arrested an Israeli citizen near the Israeli-Egyptian border late Sunday evening, Israeli army confirmed on Monday.
The Israel Defense Forces is making efforts to release him, said the army in a statement.
The man is a journalist who is currently working for Israeli television Channel 10, local news service the Ynet reported.
The Israeli cabinet gave greenlight on Sunday to a construction plan of a barrier along its border with Egypt, so as to stop illegal entry across the loosely guarded frontier.
The approved construction is "a ground barrier along 240 km of the Israeli-Egyptian border, part of which will be in the form of a fence and part in the form of other technological means," Israeli prime minister's office said in a statement.
