Jordan urges all Iraqis to participate in upcoming parliamentary elections

Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Thursday underlined the necessity that all Iraqis take part in their country's upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for March, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
At a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Judeh said it is important that all Iraqi segments take part in the elections to ensure their success, adding that these elections represent a "crucial stage" in enhancing the political process in Iraq.
A campaign will start in Jordan on Sunday to encourage Iraqis in Jordan to vote in the elections. Ten polling centers will be established in Jordan to enable Iraqis in the kingdom to cast their ballots.
There are about 200,000 Iraqis in Jordan who are eligible to vote in the coming elections, according to the Iraqi embassy in Amman.
In his meeting with Zebari, Judeh reiterated Jordan's support to Iraq's efforts to restore its stability, unity and territorial integrity so that Iraq can restore its effective role at the regional and the international level.
Judeh added that Jordan will continue to provide support to the Iraqis in Jordan until they return to their country.
The Iraqi minister for his part voiced his country's appreciation of Jordan's support to the Iraqis, commending the enabling of Iraqis in Jordan to cast their ballots in the coming elections.
