The Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement leader Khaled Meshaal said here Tuesday that Iran supports the Palestinian resistance, cause and rights, the local satellite Press TV said in a live broadcast.

"We say very clearly that Iran is supporting the Palestinian resistance ... the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian rights, and this is enough," Meshaal was quoted as saying by Press TV.

"We appreciated the position of Iran... to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people," Meshaal told a press conference briefing during the three-day visit to Tehran.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Sunday reiterated his country's overall support for the Palestinian people.

Meshaal arrived in Tehran on Sunday to meet with Iran's high-ranking officials to talk about the Palestinian issue.
