Three people were killed, including two Sunni Muslim clerics, in bomb attacks in Baghdad and Iraq's western province of Anbar on Tuesday, a well-informed police source said.

Shiekh Adnan Waheed Mohammed, a Sunni cleric was killed when an explosive-charge planted in his car detonated in Bagdad southern district of Doura, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast also killed another man and wounded a third who were in the car with Mohammed during the attack, the source said.

In Anbar province, another cleric was killed and three people were wounded when a bomb attached to the car of the Shiekh Ahmed al-Mohammadi went off in the town of Saqlawiyah, some 30 km east of the provincial capital city of Ramadi, the source added.

Mohammadi is responsible for the main mosque of Saqlawiyah in the predominantly Sunni province of Anbar.

Despite the drop in violence in the last two years, recent series of attacks have raised concerns about the ability of Iraqi security forces to contain violence ahead of the country's national elections early next year.
