Two U.S. pilots killed in helicopter crash in Iraq

Two U.S. pilots were killed in a helicopter crash north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Monday.

The two pilots were killed on Sunday during a hard landing in the province of Salahudin, a military statement said without giving further details about the incident.

An investigation about the incident is underway, the statement said.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. service members who have been killed in Iraq to more than 4,360, since the breakout of the U.S.-led war on Iraq in 2003, according to media account based on Pentagon figures.
