Islamic Hamas movement on Monday saidit doesn't rule out resorting to suicide bombings inside Israel if the Jewish state escalated military operations in the Gaza Strip it controls.
"The Palestinian resistance has the right to use every available means to defend the people in the face of the Israeli aggression, including martyrdom operations," said Ayman Taha, a Hamas spokesman in Gaza.
He said "The Palestinian people and their resistance powers will know how to respond to the aggression and foil its aims."
Israeli leaders threaten to launch a large-scale offensive into the Gaza Strip as a six-month ceasefire expired Friday, triggering resumption of Palestinian rocket-fire from Gaza and Israeli military reactions.
Hamas accuses Israel of thwarting the ceasefire in its latest weeks by restoring tight sanctions into the Gaza Strip, violating the core terms of the Egyptian-brokered agreement and letting Hamas unwilling to renew the deal.
Last night, Israeli helicopters launched several missiles into border areas in eastern and northern Gaza Strip, saying it targeted Palestinian militants who were trying to fire rockets into Israel.
Israel said the Palestinians opened machinegun fire at its military helicopters and so the aircraft responded.
