Jordan's Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Chief Commissioner Suleiman Obeidat said on Wednesday that the impact of the global crisis on the aviation sector will be clearly evident during the coming year, local daily The Jordan Times reported on Thursday.
Obeidat, however, expected the crisis to increase investment opportunities in the kingdom's aviation sector due to its stable and safe environment.
In addition, the government recently endorsed the establishment of a Jordanian airports company, which should provide more momentum to the sector, added the official.
Obeidat made the remarks on the sideline of a one-day workshop, organized by CARC with aims to bring concerning parties to discuss civil aviation development and the liberalization of the industry.
During the workshop, Industry and Trade Minister Amer Hadidi, who is also acting as transport minister, highlighted the government's policy on the industry including steps to open the Jordanian air routes by 2011.
