U.S. President George W. Bush arrived in Baghdad on an unannounced visit on Sunday, an Iraqi official television reported.
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani received the visiting president on his arrival in the afternoon, the state-run Iraqia television said.
Bush's visit is aimed at meeting Iraqi leaders and celebrating a new security pact between Washington and Baghdad, along with meetings with U.S. troops stationed in Iraq, local media said.
Bush's visit came a day after Defense Secretary Robert Gates' unannounced visit to a U.S. military base near the Iraqi town of Balad, some 70 kilometers north of Baghdad.
