The third meeting of the Security Cooperation and Coordination Committee of Iraq's Neighboring Countries kicked off in Damascus on Sunday, the official SANA news agency reported.

The meeting would discuss means to bolster cooperation among Iraqi neighboring countries to help achieve security and stability in the war-torn country.

Representatives from Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, Bahrain, Turkey, Iran and Iraq, as well as the Arab League, the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Conference, permanent members of the UN Security Council and the Group of Eight participated in the meeting.

The first two meetings of the security coordination committee were also held in Damascus in April and August 2007 respectively.
