The Israeli army denied on Friday reports that its troops were involved in the airstrike in the Gaza Strip that killed at least eight people and wounded 40 others.
The Israeli army spokeswoman told Xinhua that they were unaware of the airstrike in the coastal area.
Earlier, eight Palestinians were killed and 40 others wounded after a huge explosion hit a building in the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, Palestinian medics and witnesses said.
Palestinian witnesses said that an Israeli F-16 warplane fired a missile and struck the building, where a senior Islamic Jihad militant was living. As a result, the two-story building collapsed and caused huge casualties.
Witnesses said that among the eight killed was Ayman al-Fayed, a senior militant in Jihad's armed wing al-Quds Brigades.
