The Kurdish regional government in northern Iraq said it has shut down the offices of a local political party for links with the Turkish banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK), Iraqi official television reported on Saturday.

The Kurdish government closed the offices of the Kurdistan Democratic Solution Party in the Iraqi northern provinces of Arbil, Duhuk and Sulaimaniyah, the state-run Iraqia television quoted Kurdish officials as saying.

The party said to be sympathetic to Turkey's PKK separatists, who is fighting for an independent Kurdish state, the channel said.

The move came two weeks after the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki vowed to close all the PKK offices in Iraq and not to allow any "terrorist" groups to use the Iraqi soil to attack neighboring countries.
