One dazzling show after another, Amsterdam International Fashion Week featured a Chinese fashion designer on Friday.

Chinese fashion designer Sheguang Hu Friday unveiled his collection "Emotions", which won wild applause.

Inspired by the Baroque period of the 17th century, the collection is characterized by the asymmetrical and irregular forms of some antique looking, but opulent design.

"My aim is to combine Chinese elements with the Dutch fashion," Sheguang Hu told Xinhua just before the show.

With the growing interest in "Dutch Design," the fashion event has attracted a growing audience of directional international brands, buyers and press.

"For me, the Chinese way of dressing is much more tender and delicate. Chinese designers pay a lot of attention to details, while the Dutch designers tend to focus more on a decent way of dressing," said the designer.

Noting the practical approach of Dutch design fashion, Hu wished to combine this style for a less feminine trend.

As the recent economic crisis has reduced the vitality of Dutch fashion, Hu wished to revive "grey and dark" Dutch streets by using vivid colors and colorful fabrics.

Hu has been living in the Netherlands since he was 16 years old and attended the Dutch Rietveld Fashion academy. The 35-year-old designer became known in the Netherlands after designing haute couture for the Dutch Royal Family.

Amsterdam International Fashion Week is held twice a year, aimed at connecting and strengthening the Dutch fashion industry.
