Cologne's apartment fire causes one dead 17 seriously injured

A fire in an apartment building in the city of Cologne, west of Germany, overnight caused one woman dead, 17 people seriously injured.

The police said the fire broke out in the flat of the woman, who later died in hospital from serious burn. Her husband and 16 other neighbours suffered dangerous smoke inhalation.

It took 58 firemen about two hours to put out the fire until Tuesday morning and the police are investigating the causes of the accident.
