Czech Transport Minister Vit Barta, a top member of a junior party of the center-right coalition, resigned Friday over corruption allegations.

Barta tendered his resignation after two members of his Public Affairs party accused him of attempting to bribe them into loyalty.

Barta has denied any wrongdoing, saying that he wants to run for the post of his party chairman.

Local media reported that Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas has accepted Barta's resignation.
