Ukraine has launched a second criminal investigation against the country's previous government headed by Yulia Tymoshenko, Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka said on Friday.
Pshonka said prosecutors were investigating another misuse of funds by Tymoshenko's cabinet -- the purchase of ambulance cars that were then used in her campaigning activities during the February presidential election.
Tymoshenko denied any wrongdoing.
"Their dream is to keep me off any elections," she told reporters after being questioned.
Earlier this week, Tymoshenko was accused of misusing 380 million euros (about 500 million U.S. dollars) from the sale of carbon emission rights under the Kyoto Protocol, and was then placed under house arrest.
After Tymoshenko dramatically lost a presidential election this year to her long-time rival Viktor Yanukovych, the new government had ordered an audit of her cabinet's operations.
Tymoshenko was arrested on charges of forging customs documents and smuggling gas between 1995 and 1997, but was released several weeks later.
The auditors' report, published in October, alleged misuse of funds by the previous government through selling carbon emission rights under the Kyoto Protocol.
