Russian ground troops will hold joint military exercises with the United States in 2012, local media reported Wednesday.

"A number of trips for preparation works are expected to take place, along with exchanges of training experience in Europe and in the United States," Col. Gen. Alexander Postnikov said in an interview with the Red Star newspaper.

Postnikov also said more drills with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) members are expected, as well as with Belorussian, Mongolian and Indian armed forces.

The talks over preparations are scheduled for 2011.
