Ukraine's president urges government to create bank of development

Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych urged the government to create the national bank of development, presidential office said in a statement on Monday.

"Within a month the cabinet should work out a plan of the possible establishment of the Development Bank to financially support domestic enterprises," Yanukovych said in his order stated in the presidential website.

The president also instructed the government and National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) to prepare and submit to the parliament a bill on granting the NBU a right to impose the mandatory sale of foreign exchange earnings by exporters.

The government and central bank were also requested to take measures to gradually reduce in 2011 the use of foreign currency as a means of payment in the territory of Ukraine.
