Ukraine considers the Arab world as a promising region, and is ready to enhance cooperation in various fields with Arab countries, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said Tuesday.

"We see the Arab world as a very promising and interesting region," Azarov said at a meeting with Lebanon's Economy Minister Mohammad al-Safadi.

Azarov noted Kiev attaches great importance to the Arab markets for domestic goods.

"We modernize our economy and need some new markets. Lebanon is a subject of interest for us," PM said.

Azarov stressed Ukraine is primarily interested in energy cooperation with Lebanon "as Ukraine produces all necessary equipment for thermal and hydroelectric power plants."

"Ukraine and Lebanon could also strengthen cooperation in the agrarian sector," Azarov noted, adding Ukraine is interested in Lebanese investment projects.

Azarov said the countries should keep cooperation in cultural and educational spheres as many Lebanese students study in Ukraine.
