Russia and Venezuela inked an agreement Friday on building a nuclear power station in Venezuela.
"An agreement has just been signed on cooperation in the atomic sphere... I want to say specially that our intentions are absolutely pure and open," said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at a press conference after talks with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez in Moscow.
The agreement was reached when Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was visiting Caracas in April, 2010.
Another deal on acquisition by Russian TNK-BP oil company of some assets of BP in Venezuela was reached too.
"We are moving on to new agreements on a wide range of projects. We are strategic partners and close friends," said Medvedev prior to his closed-door talks with Chavez.
