A Polish soldier died in Afghanistan on Monday morning following an explosion of a roadside bomb, local media reported.
Sergeant Kazimierz Kasprzak, 32, was wounded by a roadside bomb in southeastern Ghazni province. He was transported to a field hospital in the Ghazni base where he died during a surgery, a spokesman for Polish forces in Afghanistan said on Monday.
Kasprzak is the 21st Polish soldier to die in Afghanistan. Poland has some 2,600 troops in the country, part of the NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in New York last week that he hoped for Poland's withdrawal from NATO's ISAF operation in Afghanistan before 2014.
